Take a typical craigslist swapped 240SX
Rip out that RB20DET
Put a LS3 in it instead.
And you’ll probably need a new transmission to go with all that torque..
So I’d swap in a T56 just in case.
Supercharge that LS3 with a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Then put !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on it.
Paint it Bayside Blue so it looks something like that
Then put 18" TE37s on it because TE37s look good on almost everything.
I might attempt something similar in the future if 240SX prices stay low...

There was a guy at my local autocross that did something like this
I don’t see the point personally. I think there are better choices of cars for LS swaps. However I think the 240SX is an unattractive car and an overrated chassis. If you are going to V8 swap something you can get a chassis with as good or better suspension (Skyline, 4 cylinder Skylines are cheap) or MUCH lighter (SA22).
Also IDK why someone would put a RB20 in a 240SX. There is no point in that swap as well, the RB20 is WORSE than the KA24. The only “JDM” Nissan engines worth swapping into that car are the RB25s or the S14 and later SR20DET.
If I wanted to do a LS3 swap I would choose a SA22 RX7, Miata, Celica Supra MK2, or something not Japanese. The reason for the Supra MK2 is I love the way that car looks, if it’s p-type you can fit a TON of tire, and I think it would pair well with the engine.
I think the ultimate car to LS3 swap would be a 1988 Fiero.
I am curious if you can LS swap any of the MR2s. If you can put a LS engine in a W20 that would be even better than that Fiero.

You mention sa22 but say a s13 is not a good chassis? S13 would be wayyyyyyyyyyy more accepting of an ls than an sa22..

Well the reason why I say the SA22 is great is because it weighs so little with a LS3 it would be ludicrous. Plus it would be an interesting swap once completed worthy of attention and internet articles, like that zero fucks given car.
It would be so ridiculous it would be seriously worth the effort of a swap. Bringing it to any event would attract crowds.
With a S13 I would be thinking the whole time if there was something more interesting I could have swapped it into. Like even a E36 or a 944 or 318ti. Just thinking of a LS3 318ti makes my mouth water.
The problem with the S13 is it looks mediocre, it’s weight in stock form is 2700-2800lbs, and it has rather average suspension for the era’s sports cars. Several cars do it better. Sure it fits decent tire under (not the best) sure it’s easy to swap into however when you have a plethora of choices why pick it?
There are plenty of choices that add interesting concepts on top of it, like Fiero’s mid engine, SA22s extreme low weight, 944s looks, Miata’s amazing chassis and support, MK2 supras super 80s nostalgia, etc. They have all what the S13 has and more.
If you want an easy swap kits to do it are available for several cars.
Maybe i’m prejudice towards the S13. Sure some people view the Miata that way but it’s MORE than that. Way more.
The #1 swap I think I would want to see is a Starion LS swap. Ridiculous widebody that fits TONS of tire, super nostalgic design, massive engine bay space, rareish car, terrible engine. So much room for improvement there that the LS would solve and the payoff would be incredible. To “fix” a S13 all you need is a S14+ SR20 and a decently sized garrett turbo. Easymode.
That is what I think of when it comes to LS swaps. I want a car that would be worth it across the board. Not just “decent chassis with support” that people pick the S13 for, at that point i’m like why is it worth the effort?
Even if you want newer cars there are choices, a blown engine RX8 is another that comes to mind as a perfect swap candidate. There are great candidates across ALL price ranges. You could find a fucked RX8 for less than $5000. Plus there are kits to turn it into a bolt-in swap. You basically fix an otherwise perfect car.
The S13 is a choice because it’s easy, the chassis is common, and it’s..... it’s just all around EASY and is like a box checking car that does everything well but excels at nothing. You can do so much more than that and I think “you can do so much more” is how you should choose a candidate for a LS swap.
